Meet Dr. Bret Schneider

CEO & Founder / Licensed Clinical Psychologist / Clinical Supervisor

Dr. Bret Schneider brings a thoughtful, compassionate, and practical approach to mental health care shaped by a lifetime of service, leadership, and family life. As a retired military veteran with over 20 years of service, a husband, and a father of two, he understands the real‑world pressures people face in balancing personal well‑being, family responsibilities, work demands, and life transitions. At the heart of both his personal and professional life is a core value learned through military service: no one is left behind. This belief guides his commitment to ensuring individuals and families feel supported, understood, and never abandoned in their care.

Dr. Schneider is a Licensed Psychologist with broad experience in mental health counseling, crisis intervention, psychological assessment, and consulting across both civilian and military settings. He is known for being approachable, collaborative, and solution‑focused—partnering with clients to clarify goals and move toward meaningful change in a way that feels structured, realistic, and achievable.

His therapeutic style is intentionally practical and action‑oriented. Dr. Schneider focuses on helping clients break complex or overwhelming challenges into manageable, usable strategies—simplifying without ever minimizing the difficulty of their experiences. He emphasizes turning insight into action, developing tools that fit each individual’s real life rather than abstract or overly complicated approaches. Therapy is collaborative and grounded, designed to help clients regain momentum, confidence, and a sense of direction.

Dr. Schneider works with children, adolescents, and adults, supporting concerns such as trauma, emotional and behavioral challenges, life transitions, and obsessive‑compulsive disorder (OCD). He is trained in Exposure and Response Prevention (ExRP), EMDR, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and integrates these evidence‑based approaches in a way that is clear, supportive, and tailored to the individual.

A significant part of Dr. Schneider’s work involves psychological, psychoeducational, and neurocognitive assessments. He views assessment as a collaborative process that can be therapeutic in itself—helping people gain clarity, reduce uncertainty, and better understand how their mind works. Assessments are used to guide targeted treatment and practical next steps, particularly in areas such as ADHD, learning differences, trauma‑related concerns, and emotional or behavioral challenges.

Dr. Schneider believes therapy works best when it is matched to the individual, not applied as a one‑size‑fits‑all solution. Guided by his value of leaving no one behind, he is especially attentive to clients who have felt misunderstood, overwhelmed, or discouraged by past systems of care. His approach focuses on strengths, values, and individual differences, supporting resilience, growth, and improved quality of life. His military background also allows him to bring added understanding to the experiences of service members, veterans, and their families, while remaining welcoming and supportive to people from all walks of life.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Schneider is a board‑approved clinical supervisor for professionals pursuing licensure and enjoys mentoring clinicians as they develop confidence, competence, and a strong professional identity. He also serves on the Carver County Mental Health Advisory Council, where he helps advocate for accessible, responsive mental health services and works with community partners to identify unmet needs.
