Meaningful clinical work, without sacrificing your stability.
We hold ourselves to real standards — service, integrity, accountability, discipline, teamwork — but we've built a place where those values support your life, not compete with it. This is a values-based practice on purpose. No corporate quotas, no chasing productivity targets to justify your own existence, no faceless layers between you and the people who make decisions. Caseloads stay reasonable because we mean it when we say sustainable care starts with a sustainable clinician. Pay is structured to reward your productivity — a stable base has you covered, and a tiered bonus model means the harder you work, the more you take home. And we take "no one left behind" seriously here — as a trainee or employee, you're not handed a caseload and left to figure it out alone. Supervision, support, and your growth toward licensure are our responsibility too, not just yours.
Mental Health Solutions offers both W2 employee and 1099 independent contractor positions, and we follow IRS regulations in determining how each role is classified. Classification is based on factors such as the degree of behavioral control over how, when, and where work is performed; the level of financial control, including how pay is structured and who covers business expenses; and the nature of the working relationship, including benefits provided.
Our W2 employees work on a company-directed schedule and receive benefits such as PTO, a retirement match, and malpractice insurance coverage included for all services delivered. All unlicensed providers are W2, as unlicensed workers require clinical supervision to practice legally — a licensed professional must direct and oversee their work. That supervision requirement means that MHS is inherently controlling how, when, and under what conditions your work is performed, which is exactly the "behavioral control" factor the IRS uses to define an employee relationship. Since unlicensed staff can't legally operate independently (they're required to work under someone else's oversight), they don't meet the independence test for 1099 status.
Our 1099 contractors set their own schedule and are responsible for their own malpractice insurance, while MHS assists with credentialing and contracting to support your independent practice. All 1099 positions require independent licensure and an established business entity (Sole Proprietorship, LLC, S-Corp, PLLC, or CORP). MHS contracts with businesses, not individuals — this is required under IRS regulations for a genuine independent contractor relationship. Independent licensure shows you're able to practice without our clinical oversight, which is central to meeting the IRS's independence standard. If you haven't set up your business yet, we're happy to help guide you through it.
We are Hiring W2 Clinicians-Pre-Licensed & Post-Doc
Person-centered, always
Our person-centered, cognitive-behavioral approach means your clinical judgment is trusted, not templated. Individualized care for clients starts with individualized support for clinicians.
Growth is built in, not bolted on
Ongoing training, weekly clinical supervision, and a clear path toward licensure are part of how the practice runs day to day — not a perk you have to negotiate for.
Stability enables good care
A stable base salary means you are guaranteed pay for hours worked. Clinicians who aren't worried about this week's paycheck can be fully present for the client in front of them.
Compensaton & Benefits
Base salary + commission · Eagan or Eden Prairie · hybrid available
$49k – $100k
$49K reflects a caseload of 15 clients/week, and $100k reflects a caseload of 25 clients/week. $20/hr base for billable and administrative time, plus commissions ranging from 25% to 35% on all generated revenue.
Stable base salary
Tiered compensation model - You are always paid for hours worked.
2 hrs/week clinical supervision toward licensure
401(k) with 3% employer match after 90 days
80 hours PTO, front-loaded after 30 days
Malpractice insurance included
We Are Hiring 1099 Contractor - Clinicians
If you’re an independently licensed clinician, you shouldn't have to choose between flexibility and real earning potential — at MHS, you get both. You keep the majority of what you generate: 80% if full-time telehealth, 75% in office or hybrid. And because pay scales directly with your caseload, growth is in your hands, not gated behind tenure or politics. (At this time, we only offer 100% telehealth positions to prescribers)
Therapy & Prescribing Compensation
10–14 clients/week: roughly $37k–$80k annually
15–19 clients/week: roughly $78k–$108k annually
20–24 clients/week: roughly $105k–$137k annually
25–30 clients/week: roughly $131k–$171k annually
Psychological Testing Compensation
For psychologists who provide testing and evaluations, MHS adds another income stream on top of your regular caseload. You keep 75% of what each evaluation generates, and because evaluations are billed per case rather than per weekly session, this works as flexible, stackable income — take on as many or as few as fit your schedule
1 Evaluation/week: roughly $37K - $42K annually
2 Evaluations/week: roughly $75K - $85K annually
3 Evaluations/week: roughly $105K - $113K annually
As a 1099 contractor with MHS, your split covers more than just pay — it also includes the overhead you'd otherwise have to build or pay for on your own. That means office space (for in-office/hybrid clinicians), EHR system access, administrative support, phone lines, business email, case consultation, credentialing support, an already contracted insurance entity provider, billing, and scheduling are all included. You keep your independence and your percentage, without having to stand up or pay for that infrastructure yourself. This is what a values-driven, small-practice model can offer that a corporate clinic can't: a direct line between the work you put in and what you take home, backed by a team that gives you the referrals, support, and infrastructure to achieve your practice goals.
Testimonials
“As a previous practicum student, I would strongly recommend Mental Health Solutions as a practicum experience under Dr. Schneider’s supervision. I learned an extensive amount related to assessments, particularly for clients with neurodevelopmental presentations. Dr. Schneider is incredibly knowledgeable and created a productive and comfortable environment to foster growth. I was able to obtain significant client hours working with diverse populations, and was consistently supported throughout my practicum experience. Mental Health Solutions is a great environment to learn in, and help support clients with diverse backgrounds and mental health presentations.”
- Jamie Cohen, Clinical Trainee
“Dr. Schneider provided the scaffolding I needed to develop my skills in psychological assessment by offering clear guidance while encouraging increasing independence throughout the training year. I felt supported and comfortable in our supervisory relationship, dynamics that I highly value.”
- Mark Patil, Clinical Trainee
“My time at MHS has been wonderful; I have been able to successfully work as an independent clinician while maintaining a sense of community with the clinic. Often in my career, I would feel somewhat like a ghost-drifting into sessions without seeing coworkers or seeing really anyone-but MHS has taken intentional steps to facilitate clinicians connecting via consultation and a small clinic atmosphere. Because of the easy access to other clinicians and psychiatry providers, I have never felt stuck with a patient for long, and I have really grown more confident in my practice in my time here.”
- Previous Therapist
“My training with Dr. Schneider and MHS was the most valuable of my doctoral career. I entered the practice with several years of experience learning CBT and ACT modalities; however, I still learned a great deal with the depth of supervision provided. Dr. Schneider's supervision style is to treat you as a professional and peer, which I found very gratifying and built my confidence as I entered the final stages of my doctorate. I would (and have) recommended this training experience to my peers and will continue to do so to anyone interested in learning how they may be an independent practitioner in private practice.”
- Izaak Kerwood-Davison, MA, Clinical Trainee
“MHS is unique in my experiences of group practice with Dr. Schneider’s transparent approach to pay and salary, which addresses an age-old issue of mental health groups harmfully using their providers to maximize profit. Not here, you know the breakdown of pay clearly and the why behind it, and that extra bit of transparency makes all the difference for me to feel clear and in control of my work with patients.”
